What is “Paint Correction?”

FullSizeRender.jpg

Paint correction is often times mistaken by many for repainting a vehicle. Many think that the term paint correction refers to fixing scrapes, stone chips, dents, dings, etc.

While all those horrible mishaps can be fixed with other methods, they are not fixed by a machine polisher or “paint correction”.

Paint correction is the process of reducing, minimizing and/or eliminating imperfections in a vehicle’s clear coat.

A vehicle has a few layers to the pretty shiny stuff you see: typically there’s a primer layer, a base coat or “color” layer, and the clear coat or top coat which makes the surface appear ultra shiny/glossy. Imperfections in clear coat can be caused by a plethora of things, such as a cat walking across the hood, someone keying a vehicle, wiping it down improperly, improper washing/care methods, bird poo droppings, acid rain, California dusters, tree sap , the list goes on!

So how do you get rid of the scratches?

Paint correction can involve a number of measures (literally) including measuring paint depth to ensure there is enough clear coat available to correct (otherwise you’ll burn through to the base coat or beyond!), as well as choosing the right machine, pads, compounds and polishes to correct the issue.

Ask the abused Maserati above, he’ll show you what we did. See the scratches/swirls/spider webs/unholiness in the paint? Well here is after

This Italian stallion also received a full front paint protection film to protect against rock chips from highway and daily driving. We offer XPEL Ultimate as well as Suntek Ultra, both which carry a 10 year warranty against cracking and yellowing. I want paint protection film, take me there now!

Furthermore, the 458 Italia also received our 5 Year Warranted ceramic coating by Ceramic Pro. This offers a 2 layer system in which the first layer applied adds chemical and scratch resistance. The top layer provides a super slick, high-gloss, hydrophobic shield that adds UV protection, not to mention makes cleaning a breeze. Not only are these properties beneficial for ease of cleaning and low maintenance, but even sweeter, having a ceramic coating applied to your vehicle eliminates the need to ever wax it again!

IMG_2774.JPG

This stunning 2016 Mercedes Benz G65 received a plethora of services. Starting with our Ceramic Pro interior coating, the leather, carpets, and upholstery were protected for resistance against staining as well as providing UV protection. We proceeded to paint correct the paint with our Stage 2 paint correction to remove the slight scratches and blemishes in the clear coat. Next, the Ceramic Pro Silver Package was applied to the exterior painted and chrome surfaces of the wagon. Wheel faces were protected for ease of cleaning and to protect against corrosion. To top off the protection, we applied Ceramic Pro Rain to all of the glass.

Porsche Panamera in for Ceramic Pro Sport

This beautiful Porsche Panamera came in for its annual check-up after performing our Stage 2 paint correction and Ceramic Pro Silver Package. We performed a thorough exterior wash to rid the surface of any loose dirt and to ensure the coating is still exhibiting its properties. We then applied Ceramic Pro Sport overtop to add a sacrificial layer of protection until its next annual visit!
