What is “Paint Correction?”

FullSizeRender.jpg

Paint correction is often times mistaken by many for repainting a vehicle. Many think that the term paint correction refers to fixing scrapes, stone chips, dents, dings, etc.

While all those horrible mishaps can be fixed with other methods, they are not fixed by a machine polisher or “paint correction”.

Paint correction is the process of reducing, minimizing and/or eliminating imperfections in a vehicle’s clear coat.

A vehicle has a few layers to the pretty shiny stuff you see: typically there’s a primer layer, a base coat or “color” layer, and the clear coat or top coat which makes the surface appear ultra shiny/glossy. Imperfections in clear coat can be caused by a plethora of things, such as a cat walking across the hood, someone keying a vehicle, wiping it down improperly, improper washing/care methods, bird poo droppings, acid rain, California dusters, tree sap , the list goes on!

So how do you get rid of the scratches?

Paint correction can involve a number of measures (literally) including measuring paint depth to ensure there is enough clear coat available to correct (otherwise you’ll burn through to the base coat or beyond!), as well as choosing the right machine, pads, compounds and polishes to correct the issue.

Ask the abused Maserati above, he’ll show you what we did. See the scratches/swirls/spider webs/unholiness in the paint? Well here is after

Co-Owner Detail BOSS

Classic Ford Mustang Lovers' Dream

We're now located in North Scottsdale, Arizona, and have had the pleasure of detailing a fleet of 5 classic 60s Mustangs. Each vehicle was restored, from interiors including upholstery, carpet, and moldings, to engine rebuilds and paint jobs. The owner contacted us to clean each one thoroughly and prep them for shipment to Australia where they were sold to. Each Ford received our Full Express Detail Package as well as an engine detail.

Four of the stangs had aluminum wheels which can't be washed using acid-based wheel cleaners due to the fact that acid oxidizes bare aluminum; so we had to use either a non acid-based wheel cleaner or soap/water to safely and effectively clean the wheels.

This is just one of the many projects we've done, we'll be updating the site regularly throughout the rest of this week to keep the news coming with what we're doing to satisfy the detailing needs of the Scottsdale and Phoenix area!

When your car is over two decades old and it’s paint has seen better days, the choice is clear what needs to be done. A client of ours knew exactly what to do and came to us knowing we could make a transformation happen to his 1987 Mercedes Benz 420 SEL. We fulfilled his hopes. With our Deluxe Package, the first stage in paint correction we offer, we managed to remove approximately 80% of all minor surface imperfections such as fine scratches and swirls. We also managed to clear up and repair about 80% of harsh damage on the hood, trunk, and areas along the roof that the elements of the Mohave Desert and Arizona sun had caused to this beautiful vehicle. Check out the photo gallery of this black beauty, the pictures are ordered from start to finish top to bottom as you scroll down the page. Click HERE.
