T Sportline Carbon Fiber Body Kit installed on Tesla Model 3

Want to make your Model 3 stand out? This easy to install carbon fiber body kit drastically improves the aesthetic of the model 3 with minimal effort. We cleaned and prepped each area prior to install to ensure optimal adhesive promotion, and added a few extra strips of 3M double side tape for extra security. We also added on a new rear spoiler, Tesla badging just above the license plate, along with carbon fiber turn signal covers. Inside, the rear air vent module is now fitted with a carbon fiber piece as well.

What is “Paint Correction?”

FullSizeRender.jpg

Paint correction is often times mistaken by many for repainting a vehicle. Many think that the term paint correction refers to fixing scrapes, stone chips, dents, dings, etc.

While all those horrible mishaps can be fixed with other methods, they are not fixed by a machine polisher or “paint correction”.

Paint correction is the process of reducing, minimizing and/or eliminating imperfections in a vehicle’s clear coat.

A vehicle has a few layers to the pretty shiny stuff you see: typically there’s a primer layer, a base coat or “color” layer, and the clear coat or top coat which makes the surface appear ultra shiny/glossy. Imperfections in clear coat can be caused by a plethora of things, such as a cat walking across the hood, someone keying a vehicle, wiping it down improperly, improper washing/care methods, bird poo droppings, acid rain, California dusters, tree sap , the list goes on!

So how do you get rid of the scratches?

Paint correction can involve a number of measures (literally) including measuring paint depth to ensure there is enough clear coat available to correct (otherwise you’ll burn through to the base coat or beyond!), as well as choosing the right machine, pads, compounds and polishes to correct the issue.

Ask the abused Maserati above, he’ll show you what we did. See the scratches/swirls/spider webs/unholiness in the paint? Well here is after

Happy Detailing All!

Detail BOSS owners Christian and Chris continue education with Jason Killmer of KXK Dynamics AKA “The SandMan”

Sanding paint isn’t for the faint of heart. One wrong stroke and you could go through the vehicle’s clearcoat, ruining it and compromising its originality if it needs to be resprayed.

We attended Jason’s Killmer’s sanding course at Renny Doyle’s Detailing Success HQ, located in Big Bear, CA. Jason is known world-wide for his incredible sanding skills on world class automobiles; despite having cerebral palsy, Jason has mastered his craft and trains people across the country. During the course we learned the proper techniques to assess paint texture, what tools and skills are required to tackle tricky corners and seams, and of course the art of hand sanding to minimize paint texture for that perfect mirror finish we all know and love!

We attend a number of continued education courses, seminars and webinars throughout each year. This allows us to continue to be industry leaders within the art of paint correction and other services we offer to our clientele. Until next time, happy detailing!
